Metal Roofing
Metal roofing built for North Texas weather
Standing-seam and metal panel systems that shed hail, reflect heat, and last decades longer than a thin 3-tab — when they are detailed correctly.

Metal is not automatically quieter, cooler, or rust-proof. Those outcomes come from the underlayment, clip system, coating, and how the eaves and valleys are folded. Genes Construction specifies and installs metal roofs for DFW homes and light-commercial buildings that want a longer life than shingles without a surprise oil-canning wall in year two.
We walk HOA guidelines, structural load, and color with you before a panel is ordered. A metal roof is a long decision. It should look like it belongs on the house.
What we handle
Standing seam
Concealed-fastener panels with a clean vertical line. The right choice when you want weather-tight seams and a contemporary profile.
Exposed-fastener panels
A more economical metal option for shops, barns, and some residential planes, installed with proper washers and closure strips.
Coatings and colors
PVDF and similar finishes in a range of bronzes, charcoals, and lighter cool-roof colors that keep attics saner in July.
Retrofits over shingles
Where structure, code, and the existing roof allow, we can install metal over a sound shingle roof to cut tear-off waste. We will tell you when that is a bad idea.
How a job actually runs
01
Measure and engineer
Pitch, lengths, and oil-canning risk are checked before panels are run. Trim is drawn, not improvised on the roof.
02
Dry-in
High-temp underlayment, ice-and-water at eaves and valleys, and correct ventilation so the metal is not sweating into the deck.
03
Panel and trim
Panels go on straight. Ridges, hips, and wall flashings are folded to shed water, not caulked as a first defense.
Questions we hear first
Is metal roofing noisy in the rain?
A properly underlaid and insulated metal roof is comparable to shingles in a living space. Noise complaints almost always come from metal over an uninsulated porch or a skipped underlayment — both of which we avoid on occupied rooms.
Will a metal roof rust in Texas?
Bare steel will. We specify coated, rust-resistant panels and fasteners, and we detail cuts so raw edges are not left in the weather. Coastal salt is not a DFW problem; standing water in a poorly pitched gutter is.
Does metal lower cooling bills?
Reflective coatings bounce a large share of solar heat. Combined with a vented attic, many homeowners feel a real difference in upstairs rooms. Exact savings depend on the rest of the envelope.
Can you match a metal roof to my house?
Yes. Panel profile, rib spacing, and color are chosen against the elevation, not off a warehouse leftover. We will also flag HOA or historic-district limits before you order.
